Introduction:
Dudipatsar lake is also known as Dudipat Lake. It is named as such
because of the snow covered mountains in its surroundings. Due to their
resemblance with milk because of their white colour, the lake is called
Dudipat. ‘Dudi’ means ‘milky white’, ‘pat’ means ‘mountain’ and ‘sar’ means
‘lake’ so the Dudipat lake has the meaning ‘milky white lake’. It is also known
as the Queen of the lakes.
Dudipatsar Lake Distance & Location:
It is situated in Kaghan Valley, in the Lulusar- dudipatsar national
park. It is a little smaller than lake Saif-ul-Muluk in size but much more
higher in beauty. Snow covered mountains near the lake enhances its beauty. The
lake remains forzen about 8 months in a year. It remains accessible only for 3
to 4 months. But the best and safe period to visit this lake is the months of
July and August.
Dudipatsar Lake Height Above Sea Level:
Its Distance from Islamabad is about 343km. It’s height is of 12,500
feet from the sea level. And the mountains in the surroundings are 15,700
feet high. Firstly, you have to go from Islamabad to Naran which is at the
distance of 280km. And then you have to go to Besal which is 45km away.
Then the lake is at the distance of 18km but after treking of 12km Mullah ki
Basti came and the lake is at the distance of 6km by hiking.
How to Reach at Dudipatsar Lake:
Your journey starts from Islamabad to Naran and when you reach Besal.
The main track starts from the back side of a very famous restaurant named as Moon
Restaurant, Besal. There the main journey starts and initially you have to
cross River Kunhar by chair lift. Then you have to trek for almost 7 to
8 hours to reach Mulla ki Basti which is about 12 km from Besal.
Dudipatsar Lake Trek:
Camping is available at Mulla ki Basti. Because the hiking path was
stony, steep and difficult so you would like to stay there. On the way, there
comes a point where you have to cross the river in which the water is cold and
flowing with high pressure. The stones are slippery and you have to be careful
while crossing it. Bring water resistant shoes with you. From Mulla ki Basti,
you have to trek for almost 2 hours (6km) to reach the lake. The route is
adventurous because of trekking through the picturesque valleys, dense forests
and steep terrains.

There are lush green meadows in the way which make your mood fresh. You
get close to the nature by sitting there. The lush green landscapes, filled

Things to bring at Dudipatsar Lake:

and summer clothes with you. You have to take water proof shoes to cross the
road, trekking shoes because joggers and sneakers would be useless. Proper
trekking trousers should bring, no jeans. There are bad facilities of washrooms
also. You should have rain coats also.
Tuck shops on Track of Dudipatsar Lake:
There are no tuck shops throughout the journey expect one so you have
to bring your meal and drinks with you.
Dudipatsar Lake Weather :
The weather is unpredictable there. Because suddenly it starts raining
and after sometime the Sun is at its peak. Because you are at height and Sun is
near to you, the heat would cause your skin burn. So bring sun block with you which protects you from burning and
allergy.
Cleanliness of Dudipatsar Lake:
The most beautiful thing of the lake is that it is clean. The visitors
keep the lake clean and throw the rubbish in dust bins as responsible citizens.
This adds beauty to the lake. Because the lake is quiet and beautiful, you can
find peace there. There are a lot of points there where you can take photos
with you family and friends and save your memories.
Is Dudipatsar Lake Safe for Visit:
It is said that the lake is not safe because some persons from some near valleys and villages come to tease the visitors. So the best month to visit are July and August because the camping is available in Mulla ki Basti. And they take care of you. But after these months, the police of KPK and defenders from Mulla ki Basti leave, there would be no camping and you would b unsafe.
