Location and How to Reach?

Located at a distance of 160 km from Islamabad and 250 km from Lahore by highway, this oldest town is famous all over the world for its salt mines.


This tourist spot of Jhelum district is located at a distance of 30 km from Lilla Interchange. This mine is spread over an area of 110 square kilometers underground.


It has 19 floors out of which 11 floors are underground. During salt extraction, only 50 percent of the salt is extracted while the remaining 50 percent is retained in the mine as pillar and wall.

The mine is 750 meters away from the mine and the total length of all its parts is 40 kilometers.

Annually 325000 tons of salt is obtained from this mine. The pink salt from here is considered to be the best salt in the world. Khewora salt mine is known to be useful in asthma. Therefore, a medical center has been established here to treat asthma patients.


2 lakh 50 thousand local and foreign visitors come here every year and see this beautiful area and the largest salt mine in Pakistan and the second largest in the world. Apart from walking in the mine, a small train also runs.
