Located at a distance of 160 km from Islamabad and 250 km from Lahore by highway, this oldest town is famous all over the world for its salt mines.
This tourist spot of Jhelum district is located at a distance of 30 km from Lilla Interchange. This mine is spread over an area of 110 square kilometers underground.
It has 19 floors out of which 11 floors are underground. During salt extraction, only 50 percent of the salt is extracted while the remaining 50 percent is retained in the mine as pillar and wall.
